We are not wired for stress. Our brain still has the same stress responses it had 10.000 years ago. When humans were cavemen, they had to have razor sharp stress responses to escape the tiger that was chasing them. It was a matter of survival. That stress response was the difference between life and death. But once the stressor went away, and caveman escaped from the tiger the stress response died down. The stress hormones went back to normal and reset until the next stressful incident.

 

Today, our brain is wired to respond to stress in the same way. The rapid heart rate, the dialated pupils, we are primed for survival. Our stressors might be different but the response is the same.

 

And when the body is in stress mode, when our brain perceives stress, its survival instinct is to turn off all “non essential” functions. When our stress signal is on, our body puts all non-essential to survival at that moment functions on the back burner. These include digestion, hormone function, and detoxification.

 

Unfortunately, all these day to day stressors don’t subside, don’t abate. Lives today are filled with modern ‘psychosocial” stress that continue day in and day out. As a result our brain keeps sending the stress message and our stress hormones remain elevated long term.

 

THIS IS WHY WE BURN OUT, and feel exhausted, angry, tearful, wired, hungry, crave sweets, anxious, depressed and the list goes on and on and on.

what is the solution?

The solution is to reset your stress response. To help your hormones balance themselves naturally. Because all hormones ‘speak to each other. And when one is off balance, it is a cascading effect with other hormones too.
