wellness your way; MORE LIFE LESS MEDICINE
I am Misha.
I am a British Association for Nutrition & Lifestyle Medicine ® (BANT) Registered Nutritional Therapist. I am also a trained Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and a Gut health specialist.
I began my personal wellness journey several years ago when I won my first Indian National Squash Championship trophy in 1992.
I went on to be a professional squash player for many years, winning 5 National Championships in a row. The importance of nutrition really set into my system around that time when what I ate directly impacted my performance on court.
While my conscious choices to move into the wellness field really began in my squash days, the journey actually subconsciously started long before that. I grew up with a passionate organic farmer dad and our food at home was freshly grown fruit, vegetables and grain that came from our organic farm from as far back as I can remember. This stayed with me through my squash days and was definitely instrumental in fuelling my career path to become India’s National Squash Champion 5 years in a row; indeed it propelled my career as an international professional squash player in my early 20’s when I was ranked Number 27 in the world and Number 2 in Asia.
When I finally hung up my racket and moved into working with NDTV (New Delhi Television) as their sports presenter my healthy living habits saw me in good stead through the long hours in a television studio and a gruelling but wonderful schedule.
I decided to experiment on and educate myself. I studied with renown alternative and functional medicine experts and went on to get a degree in Nutritional therapy and lifestyle medicine from the UK
Marriage and motherhood followed and I ended up gaining vast amounts of weight during my pregnancies along with a thyroid condition.
I subsequently went on to desperately try and shed the weight with various diets and quick fix measures and experimented with different diets and dieticians which left me thinner but also so depleted in vitality, minerals, hungry all the time, thinning hair and so prone to infections and allergies, and with the weight coming back time and again when I stopped that particular diet.
The outcome of those one size fits all methods never made sense to me and left me only more determined to find what worked for my unique system.
Thus began my quest for returning to the state of health and vitality I used to feel in my squash days.
I decided to experiment on and educate myself. I studied with renown alternative and functional medicine experts and went on to become a certified Integrative Nutrition health coach.
I then decided that I wanted to study functional nutrition and lifestyle medicine further and got my degree in nutritional therapy from Institute of Optimum Nutrition (ION) UK.
Along the way I lost a lot of weight and more importantly, I managed to KEEP IT OFF. I was not as slim and lean as I was during my squash days but I was certainly comfortable with my size both physically and emotionally, and equally importantly with the energy, vitality and glow that I regained.
My success with personally integrating all these healing modalities helped me develop my unique Protocols focused on precision nutrition; eating what suits YOUR individual bio genetic makeup. But equally importantly the program looks at lifestyle, exercise and stress levels, relationships, and the EMOTIONAL side of wellbeing and healthy living. I believe very strongly that unless all these aspects of wellbeing are looked at and bought into balance along with your relationship to food and nutrition, long lasting change is not possible. No two plans are ever the same as no two people share the same blood chemistry. Your nutrition is tailored to what your blood says about your body, along with your lifestyle and personal journey.
